The Untold Love Story of Anna Nicole Smith & Missy Byrum
In a Houston strip club in 1987, Anna “Nicki” Nicole Smith (then Vickie Lynn Hogan) met Melissa “Missy” Byrum and the two became fast friends.
“We got in a lot of trouble together,” Missy says in Netflix’s new documentary Anna Nicole Smith: You Don’t Know Me. “Nicki had gas and I had matches, you know? And when we got together, it was combustable.”
At some point that combustion was taken to the bedroom. Missy was Anna’s “first female lover.” And Anna, unsurprisingly, did not disappoint.
“She had an insatiable appetite for sex,” Missy says. “She got a lot of practice. She was good at what she did. She was a good lover, a very good lover.”
Five years after they first met, the two struck up a secret relationship. At the time, Anna was also dating billionaire J. Howard Marshall. Missy was on Marshall’s payroll as Anna’s personal consultant and manager.
“I was in love with her,” Missy says. “She was fun. She had a big heart, and she was kind, you know, she really was kind.”
In 1993, Anna proposed to Missy and the two married in their backyard by the pool. Missy told People Anna wanted to have a baby with her, but she “always knew it wasn’t ever going to work out because she was never, ever going to settle down with one…
