Over the weekend, Radio Times unearthed another startling revelation from J.K. Rowling concerning Albus Dumbledore’s sexuality. After previously revealing more than a decade ago that the headmaster of Hogwarts was gay and in love with the character Gellert Grindelwald, Rowling went on to explain more recently that the two had an “intense” and “sexual” relationship. A lot of gays asked, “Why are you doing this?” to which Rowling responded by releasing the famous wizard’s Grindr profile — just so there is no confusion about what he’s into.

“👀 for a dark lord-type to make me his ⬇️,” Dumbledore writes. “Wud also b down to just chat n play w each other’s patronuses 😝. Big wands only 😉. Open to Muggles. Face pics to chat 💅”

It’s nice to see he was open to Muggles and didn’t include “no fats, no fems” at least. Dumbledore’s profile also says he was in an open relationship, presumably with Grindelwald at the time (sounds like Grinde couldn’t really commit considering he was trying to take over the world and all), and was looking to be “discreet,” given the whole being-headmaster-at-Hogwarts thing.

According to Radio Times, Rowling says in the features on The Crimes of Grindelwald Blu-ray DVD that Dumbledore and Grindelwald had a “passionate” and “love relationship.” She added she was “less interested in the sexual side,” but believes “there is a sexual dimension to this relationship.”

It’s a good thing Rowling, a children’s book author, was less focused on the sexual side of things when writing about two wizards in a book that is, again, meant for children. Really glad I didn’t need to learn what the magical equivalent of poppers is. Although, I’m sure Rowling will reveal that when her next movie comes out.
