Cate Blanchett & Rooney Mara Star In ‘Carol 2’ About ‘Ambitious Carny’

A kind @lovelypieceoftrash follower DM’d me to tell me Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara would be co-starring in a horror movie during Carol season and they found it to be a hate crime. (Some might consider Carol itself a horror film or hate crime tbf.) I googled the movie’s synopsis and the first 3 words are “an ambitious carny” so you know it’s going to be good.

In the film, Nightmare Alley, Bradley Cooper plays “an ambitious carny with a talent for manipulating people with a few well-chosen words” who “hooks up with a female psychiatrist,” played by Cate Blanchett, “who is even more dangerous than he is.” And somewhere in that mix, Cooper’s dating/lustfully riding carousels with Rooney Mara’s character.

The trailer honestly looks wild but it’s directed by Guillermo del Toro so that’s to be expected. It doesn’t look like Mara and Blanchett are gonna hook up again. :( Blanchett seems more interested in giving her gloves to Cooper’s character ifyouknowhwhatimean. Also, SPOILER, it looks like Rooney’s character gets the electric chair at some point?? So i don’t think she ends up with Cooper or Blanchett. Can’t it work out for these two for once???

But you still might get to see Blanchett’a yabbas! Or at least, like, the tasteful silhouette of her yabbas like we saw in Carol. Also, Toni Collette is in it! So that’s fun. Kinda wish she played all the characters à la United States of Tara.
